Technorati Expands Reach of Blogs

Technorati has been hard at work cutting deals to bring the blogosphere to the masses.  This week was a busy one for them with three separate announcements: 1. Technorati has teamed up with the Associated Press to add blogger commentary to AP newstories. When readers visit an AP member Web site that uses AP Hosted Custom News, they will see a module featuring the "Top Five Most Blogged About" AP articles right next to the article text, dynamically powered by Technorati. Additionally, when readers click on an AP article, Technorati will deliver "Who's Blogging About" that article. This new feature displays on about 440 local papers across the country. I am not sure the execution is the best.  But, this will likely improve over time. 2. Technorati and

Edelman have hatched a plan to support the growth of the blogosphere internationally. Technorati is accelerating the development of fully localized versions of our service in Chinese, Korean, German, Italian and French. These will be moving through development and testing over the coming months and will be complete, public products in early 2007. (Technorati today can show posts in 20 languages, but so far we've only done completely localized versions in English and Japanese). Edelman is providing support for this accelerated development effort and will have access to these new sites as they are in development and testing this year. They will be working with their international clients on how to listen to and engage the blogosphere. How to move away from one-way, command and control marketing towards the conversational era we've entered. 3. Technorati will now display links to blog posts on Paramount Classics web sites for upcoming films (see it in action.) Technorati and Paramount Classics have announced an eighteen-month relationship to bring blogosphere discussion about each of their upcoming films directly to each film's web site. We've begun with An Inconvenient Truth, the global warming documentary starring Al Gore. These three announcements all follow earlier deals made between Technorati and the Washington Post, Newsweek and Der Spiegel. I think we can expect more deals like these in the near future. Be sure you are taking full advantage of Technorati... have you registered your blog with them yet? Get started by signing up.
